Mark: Evans & Hill, Concord, N.H. (Importer)
Origin: Staffordshire, England
Date: Circa 1875 - 1890
Type: Flow blue earthenware (also called Oriental Stone), known for its blurred cobalt glaze that "flowed" during firing
This antique flow blue plate dates to the late 19th century and was made in England for the American market. It bears the retailer’s mark of Evans & Hill of Concord, New Hampshire, a detail that ties the piece directly to its journey from Staffordshire to a small New England shop.
Ideal for decorative display, this plate can be showcased in a china cabinet, on a easel, on a kitchen or entryway table as a catchall, used as a plant plate, or incorporated into a gallery plate wall. Due to its age and natural crazing, this plate is intended for decorative use only and is not recommended for dining
Details:
- Plates are 7.8 inches wide
- All plates have slight scratches due to use and age
- All flow blue pieces are antique, many over 100 years old, so some wear such as chips, crazing, or scratches is to be expected and part of their story.
D1 - No chips or cracks. Has some white spots.
D2 - No chips or cracks.
D3 - No chips or cracks, but has crazing.
